About me.

Stella Hanbyul Jeung was born in Suwon in South Korea. As a child, she received her first singing lesson in her home country, during which time she was also a member of the Nanpa choir of boys and girls. 

She made her debut as Mi (Das Land des Lächelns) and Strauss Festival 2018 at the Bad Reichenhaller Theater in Bad Reichenhall under Christian Simonis. In 2019, she sang the role of Ophelia in the world premiere of Sven Daigger's opera "Am Grund gibt es kein Grund mehr nach dem Grund zu fragen" at the Tischlerei of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In the same year she made also her debut as the title role Curiazio from the opera Gli Orazi e i Curiazi by Domenico Cimarosa at Schloss Rheinsberg under the baton of Markello Chryssico. She also debuted in Zirkusmond and Monbijou Theater in Berlin in 2021 and 2022 under the name of the festival 'Magna Mater' with Tutti d'amore ; Berlin collective of contemporary operetta. Stella engaged as Galathé from the operetta 'Die schöne Galathé' by Franz Suppe. 

Mezzo Soprano Stella graduated from the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien and finished her Master degree at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Uta Schwabe, Akiko Nakajima and Anna Korondi. In addition, she has participated in various master-classes and workshops with renowned Youngmi Kim, Hendrik Bräunlich, Linda Watson, Anna Samuil and Anne Schwanewilms. She has also been mentored by Wolfgang Dosch, Christian Koch, KS Julia Varády, Matthias Samuil and Wolfram Rieger. 

The young mezzo-soprano has received numerous awards at various competitions, including the Internationaler Song competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg 2019, where she got role debut at the Schloss Rheinsberg. In 2022 she has been awarded Second Prize at the International Music Competition Luigi Cerritelli in Italy and

Third Prize at the Triumph de l'Art in the Song Duo category, Belgium.     


Stella was a scholarship recipient of the Sungjung Foundation in Korea and the Giovanni Omodeo-Stiftung in Germany.
